The restored Malaysia Tourism Centre (MaTiC or MTC) building is endowed with a rich and colourful past. This English Cottage style building was built during the 1930s to serve as the residence of a wealthy Chinese tycoon named Eu Tong Sen. He was an influential businessman in Malaya who served as a vice-president of the Anti-Opium Society and a member of the Kinta Sanitary Board (Perak State). After his death in 1941, this building housed the war office of the British Army. It then became the headquarters for the Japanese Imperial Army during the Second World War.

After the defeat of Japan in 1945, during the same year, the new government of the then Federation of Malaya took ownership of this building. It hosted the country's first Parliament session on 11th September 1959 and continued until 1963 after the construction of a new Parliament building was completed. In 1989, this building became the Malaysia Tourism Centre (MaTiC) to serves as a one-stop tourist information centre. It is operated by the Ministry of Tourism (www.motour.gov.my/). In addition to the info counters, there are ATM machines, a money changer, craft displays and a KL Hop On Hop Off ticketing kiosk.
